Zach Lowe puts Nico Harrison on blast for boasting about fans being on board with his ‘vision’

Sportswriter Zach Lowe has slammed Dallas Mavericks manager Nico Harrison for his recent statement about fans aligning with his “vision.” Harrison has had a rocky relationship with Mavs fans for the past few months as he traded away Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers.

However, in a turn of events, the Mavericks won the lottery and selected Cooper Flagg as the first pick in the 2025 NBA draft. During the post-draft conference, Harrison said fans were starting to “see the vision.”

Zach Lowe did not agree with what Harrison said about his relationship with fans and about them seeing the “vision.” He flamed the Dallas manager on Sunday’s episode of his “The Zach Lowe Show.”

The sportswriter said he did not want to hear Nico Harrison talk about fans starting to see the vision, as it was originally intended toward Anthony Davis strengthening the Mavs' defense and leading them to a championship.

"The vision was two quarters against the Houston Rockets before Anthony Davis got hurt. My god, they are clinging to those two quarters," Lowe said. "Now it's Cooper Flagg, there is no vision, unless he is an oracle of some kind. Then the whole NBA is in trouble because a supernatural being has entered the league."

Lastly, Howe said he did not want to hear any more "vision" talks from Nico Harrison before ending the segment.

Nico Harrison says Mavericks players are 'excited' to play with Cooper Flagg

Cooper Flagg had met some of the Mavs players even before he was drafted by the franchise. There were reports of him going to steakhouses with the players and team officials a few days before the draft.

During the post-draft press conference, Nico Harrison revealed that the Mavs players were excited to play alongside the newly drafted rookie and even mentioned PJ Washington's reaction to meeting Flagg.

"There’s no jealousy. I think guys are excited to play with him,” Harrison said (3:47). “When I asked PJ, ‘Do you think you guys can play together?’ He said, ‘Oh yeah, we can play together.’"

The Dallas Mavericks failed to make the playoffs last season. It came as a surprise to many, as just a season before, they were in the NBA Finals. However, major injuries to key players can be used as an excuse for their poor performance last season.

Going forward, the Mavs won't have Kyrie Irving for the better part of the season as he is recovering from an ACL injury. Flagg will have an opportunity to fit in the system and make an impact from the get-go while playing alongside established All-Star Anthony Davis.
