What next for Carlos Alcaraz after French Open win? Spaniard’s plans confirmed until Wimbledon

Carlos Alcaraz won his second French Open title and fifth Grand Slam title by beating arch-rival and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in an epic five-setter that went on for five-and-a-half hours. Alcaraz thus defended his 2000 points at stake at Roland Garros, cementing his status as the premier claycourt player in the world.

The 22-year-old Spaniard won three of the four big clay-court tournaments (Monte-Carlo, Rome, and Roland Garros) he entered this season. He will be much relieved now and will spend a few days savouring his victory.

Carlos Alcaraz will next play at Queen’s Club

After a long and successful claycourt season, the young Spaniard will take a few days off to relax. He will spend a few days at Ibiza, Spain, to unwind and recuperate from the rigors of clay-court tennis.

Alcaraz's next tournament will be at Queen's Club, London. He will play at the Cinch Championships, an ATP 500-level tournament played on grass. Alcaraz has played at Queen's Club in the past and also won the tournament in 2023. The tournament at Queen's Club gets underway on June 16.

Samuel Lopez will accompany Alcaraz as his coach at Queen's Club. Juan Carlos Ferrero, the Spaniard's main coach, will join him later at Wimbledon.

Alcaraz will be aiming for his third straight Wimbledon crown

Carlos Alcaraz has now won 28 consecutive matches at Grand Slams on natural surfaces, thus making him the best non-hardcourt player in the world by some distance. The Spaniard will look to extend his run at this year's Wimbledon as well.

The Wimbledon Championships get underway on June 30. Alcaraz has beaten Novak Djokovic in two consecutive Wimbledon finals, in 2023 and 2024. The 38-year-old Serb might once again be standing in the Spaniard's way to a third Wimbledon title.

Aside from Alcaraz, Djokovic, and maybe Matteo Berrettini, none of the other players are very comfortable playing on grass. Hence, the Spaniard will start as the favorite to win his sixth Grand Slam there. Djokovic is no longer the player he used to be, but he will try desperately for his 25th Grand Slam at Wimbledon this year. This may well be his last chance of winning a Grand Slam on grass.

Hence, Carlos Alcaraz would want to recharge his batteries and go all guns blazing in the following two grasscourt tournaments. With his current form, he might end up winning both.
