Tyrese Haliburton Injury Update: NBA insider confirms Pacers star’s devastating Achilles injury in Finals heartbreak

Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton suffered an Achilles injury in the heartbreaking Game 7 loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the news on X on Monday.

The league insider revealed that Haliburton sustained a torn right Achilles tendon while playing in Game 7 on Sunday. He also highlighted that the two-time All-Star was playing through a calf strain in the same leg during the entire Finals series to give his team a chance at winning the championship against the mighty Thunder.

However, his dreams crashed with the rest of the Pacers fans on Sunday when the Thunder beat the Pacers 103-91 to become the 2025 NBA champions.

Tyrese Haliburton's Achilles injury could make him miss the better part of the next NBA season. On Sunday, The Indy Star spoke with Dr. Louis J. Soslowsky, a renowned expert in tendon tears and the director of orthopaedic research at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine.

According to Soslowsky, the recovery time for an Achilles tendon tear is 8-10 months. Going by the doctor's insight, the fans can expect the Pacers' star guard to be out for at least the next two months.

Indiana gave us one of the best NBA Finals series in the past decade. Even though they lost, this series will be remembered for years to come as the story of the underdogs who proved their doubters wrong and went through some of the best teams in the Eastern Conference to book a ticket in the Finals.

Pacers coach delivers heartfelt message on Tyrese Haliburton's devastating injury

Tyrese Haliburton walked into game 7 with a chip on his shoulder and wild ambition in his eyes to lead his team to a championship. He started hot and hit three 3-pointers, but then tragedy struck as the Pacers' superstar fell with pain in the middle of the first quarter.

He had to be carried out of the court with help from the on-court and Pacers staff. After the disappointing loss, coach Rick Carlisle sent a heartfelt message for his team's star guard.

"What happened with Tyrese, just all of our hearts dropped," Carlisle told reporters. "He will be back. I don't have any medical information about what may or may not have happened, but he'll be back in time. I believe he'll make a full recovery."

"He authored one of the great individual playoff runs in the history of the NBA with dramatic play after dramatic play. It was just something that no one's ever seen, and did it as one of 17. That's the beautiful thing about him. As great of a player as he is, it's always a team thing. Our hearts go out to him."

As of now, the Pacers have neither released detailed information on the injury nor a timeline for Haliburton's return.
