“Somebody crying was news to me” – Kevin Durant clowns NBA insider over wild claim about Steve Ballmer ‘crying’ in Clippers meeting

Kevin Durant trolled NBA insider Aaron Bruski for making a wild claim about someone crying during a meeting with the LA Clippers. Bruski reported on X/Twitter back in 2016 that the Clippers had a meeting with Durant, who was searching for a new team at the time.

According to the insider, the meeting got heated and led to Clippers owner Steve Ballmer crying:

“Clippers meeting with Durant was “intense” and “at one point Steve Ballmer was crying” but everyone grew closer and a big lesson was learned.”

A fan recently found the old tweet and asked "KD" about what took place between him and the Clippers in 2016. Durant surprisingly responded to the fan and used it as an opportunity to make fun of Bruski's report:

"Somebody crying was news to me, we didn’t know what engagement farming was back then, Aaron was ahead of his time."

Durant ultimately landed with the Golden State Warriors during the offseason in 2016 and proceeded to win two consecutive championships in 2017 and 2018.

Kevin Durant rumored to be traded to Spurs

Since entering the offseason, Kevin Durant has been on everyone's radar. This is because he was put on the trading block by the Phoenix Suns. Before the 2025 trade deadline concluded, everyone thought that "KD" would be suiting up for another team. However, the Suns failed to find a suitable deal and ultimately kept Durant for the remainder of their season.

Now that Phoenix's season is over, they've stressed the idea that they expect to ship Durant to another team during the offseason. The question now is, which team would that be? According to rumors by sports analyst Bill Simmons, the San Antonio Spurs have likely already traded for him.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if (Kevin Durant) to the Spurs is done already and they just haven’t announced it," Simmons said via the "Bill Simmons Podcast". "Basically, they’ve agreed on specifics, just announce it on the week of the draft. This goes back to the Giannis thing.

"I think they trade for "KD" because it just costs less. They’ll be able to be real competitive and maybe go a couple of rounds in the playoffs, but they’re also going to keep the No. 2 pick and do it that way, which is my prediction," he added.

It's worth noting that nothing has been made official by the Phoenix Suns or San Antonio Spurs so far.
