Shocking results from Day 3 of Queen’s Club, Stuttgart, Rosmalen 2025 ft. Bernarda Pera, Karolina Muchova

The top players on tour have begun their season on grass and are in action at the Queen’s Club, Stuttgart Open, and the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships. Notably, the Queen’s Club Championships in London are hosting a WTA event for the first time in over 50 years.

Liudmila Samsonova, the top seed in Rosmalen, succumbed to an early loss. She was stunned by Carson Branstine in the first round, 6-4, 5-7, 6-1.

Meanwhile, Barbora Krejcikova also struggled to get off the mark at the Queens Club Championships. She was eliminated by Rebecca Sramkova in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

With all to play for at all three events, let’s look at a few shocking results on Day 3 three across the grasscourts.

First up is Karolina Muchova at the Queen's Club Championships.

Muchova has had a mediocre season so far, considering her high standards. Apart from semifinal runs in Linz and Dubai, she hasn't made an impact at any other event on tour.

The Czech entered the Queen's Club Championships after a first-round exit in Paris. She started her campaign with a confident win against Maddison Inglis, but lost to Tatjana Maria in the second round. The German veteran defeated her in three sets, 6-7(3), 7-5, 6-1.

Muchova has lost three out of her last five games on tour. She needs to regroup quickly and raise her level in the next few weeks.

#3) Bernarda Pera - Libema Open / Rosmalen Grass Court Championships

Second on the list is Bernarda Pera.

Pera has chipped in with valuable results this year. She entered Rosmalen after a solid third-round appearance in Paris. The American also reached the second round in Madrid via the qualifiers but lost to Beatriz Haddad Maia in three sets.

Pera began her grasscourt season with a confident win against Magda Linette but couldn't solve the riddle against Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Despite a resilient effort in the second round, the Italian outfoxed her in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6(4).

The 30-year-old reached the third round of the Wimbledon Championships last year and will thus be eager to find her best potential in the next few weeks.

#2) Jordan Thompson - Libema Open / Rosmalen Grass Court Championships

Next on the list is Jordan Thompson.

Thompson has made an ordinary start to the season so far. Apart from a third-round finish in Miami, he hasn't made a valuable contribution on tour.

The Australian entered Rosmalen after early exits in Rome and Paris. He got back to winning ways by defeating Aleksander Kovacevic in the first round, but couldn't tip the scales in his favor against Gabriel Diallo. The Canadian outclassed him in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.

Thompson was one of the most in-form players last year but has struggled to find his rhythm in 2025. He still has a few more weeks to turn things around in time for the Wimbledon Championships.

#1) Arthur Rinderknech - Stuttgart Open / Boss Open

Last on the list is Arthur Rinderknech.

Rinderknetch reached the second round in Delray Beach, Madrid and Geneva, which were his best results on tour. However, he's struggled to find consistency on tour in the last few months.

The Frenchman continued his shaky form at the Boss Open by chalking up a second-round exit at the event. He began his campaign by stunning the fifth seed Denis Shapovalov, but couldn't ruffle the feathers of Marton Fucsovics. The Hungarian defeated him in straight sets, 7-6(4), 6-3.

The Queen's Club Championships, Stuttgart Open and the Libema Open will host the second round matches on Thursday. Emma Raducanu, Bianca Andreescu and Alexander Zverev are all expected to feature this week.
