Shams Charania shares encouraging update on Tyrese Haliburton’s health before Game 3

After Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Tyrese Haliburton was seen walking gingerly off-stage following his post-game press conference. While the footage of Haliburton, who displayed what some fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, believed to be a slight limp, Shams Charania said there’s no concern regarding his status for Game 3.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, Charania opened up on the situation, explaining that the Pacers star went through a full practice on Tuesday ahead of Game 3:

“Everyone around this time of year is banged up dealing with something. I’m sure Tyrese Halliburton is dealing with some levels of soreness.

"He went through full practice today. I'm told he was feeling a lot better yesterday going into today. So I have not heard any concern level for his actual game status for Game 3 in Indianapolis on Wednesday."

This postseason, Haliburton has been averaging 18.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 9.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

Of course, on top of that, Tyrese Haliburton has notably come up big when Indiana needed it most throughout this postseason.

Pacers coach highlights the need for Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers to get out to a fast start if the team wants to win the NBA Finals

In Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the Indiana Pacers faced a 12-point deficit heading into the half. While they were able to outscore Oklahoma City in both the third and the fourth quarters, securing a narrow 111-110 win thanks to a game-winner from Tyrese Haliburton, their slow start to the first half was concerning.

Following Game 2, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle spoke with members of the press about the team's slow start to the first half in both Games 1 and 2, which collectively saw the team get outscored 116-86.

While this Pacers team, led by Tyrese Haliburton, has become known for its late-game heroics, Carlisle spoke about why reactive basketball isn't ideal for consistency:

“Another bad first half. Obviously, it was a big problem, and we just played poorly. A little bit better in the second half but you can’t be a team that’s reactive and expect to be successful or have consistency.”

Haliburton expressed a similar sentiment following the Game 2 loss, saying that he needs to find a way to be better earlier in games.

He and the Pacers will have a chance to take a lead in the series Wednesday when the two sides take the floor at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
