Martina Navratilova is of the opinion that US President Donald Trump is intentionally “creating chaos” so that he can declare a national emergency and cancel elections using the excuse. The tennis icon’s comments come after the Trump administration deployed over 2000 soldiers in Los Angeles amid the rise of protests against ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
In a controversial move, ICE arrested over 100 people as part of its latest operation against undocumented immigrants in LA. This has led to widespread protests against the organization, with activists leveling accusations of excessive force and spreading fear across immigrant neighborhoods.
In response, 2000 National Guardsmen were deployed in the name of peacekeeping, which has been seen by many as an egregious act of intimidation.
Martina Navratilova, taking to social media, expressed a similar sentiment, stating that the President was looking to escalate things with an ulterior motive.
"Exactly what trump is doing - provoking, escalating, creating chaos and then will attack the demonstrators, which will cause more demonstrations until he declares a national emergency, martial law and cancels elections. And here we are," Navratilova said.
Navratilova is among the most vocal voices criticizing Donald Trump at the moment, even going as far as to say that the President has turned the USA into a "dictatorship" recently.
Martina Navratilova credited Donald Trump after he enforced ban on transgender athletes competing in women's sports

Despite her continuous criticism of Donald Trump, Martina Navratilova did give the US President credit after he recently signed an executive order banning the participation of transgender athletes in women's sports. Funnily enough, she did not stop herself from calling out his other failings even then.
In the past, Martina Navratilova has made it exceedingly clear why she is against the inclusion of trans athletes in women's sports, stating her belief that male athletes who have transitioned still retain all the physical attributes of men.
"Do you realize that, according to a recent Washington Post/Kaiser Family Foundation poll, 69 percent of males who identify as women have not undergone any hormone treatment, and 84 percent have not had surgery?" Navratilova said.
"Physically, they’re just men. Even those who undergo any or all medical procedures retain performance advantages in strength, power, height, weight, heart size, and oxygen capacity—which Richards now admits," she added.
The 18-time Grand Slam champion, therefore, argued that it gives them an advantage over biological women, thereby robbing them of a fair competition.
