Kevin Durant Trade Rumors: NBA insider shuts down Anthony Edwards pairing with Suns star in bombshell update

There have been active conversations around the league regarding what’s next for Kevin Durant. The Phoenix Suns are ready to move on from Durant and his expiring four-year, $194 million contract. The Suns’ attempt at a super team didn’t work out, and they are now ready to trade KD away.

Last week, ESPN’s Shams Charania unveiled Durant’s preferred list. However, other organizations outside his proposed landing spots have joined in on the trade talk. One of the teams outside of where he wants to play is the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The trade talk regarding the Wolves acquiring the 15-time All-Star led to speculations of him teaming up with Anthony Edwards. Minnesota’s All-Star has been vocal about Durant being his favorite player.

However, the NBA insider confirmed that Durant has no interest in the Wolves.

"I'm told the Phoenix Suns remain in active conversations around the league on a Kevin Durant deal," Charania said. "But their focus over the last several days has been on three teams, and that's the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves.

"We know his preferred destinations are the Rockets, [San Antonio] Spurs and the Heat ... His expiring contract of $54.7 million is going to be playing a part of this. I'm told Durant has no desire to be in Minnesota with the Timberwolves."

The Wolves just made the Western Conference finals for a second year in a row. However, they couldn't get over the hump and lost to the OKC Thunder in five games. Acquiring a star like Kevin Durant would've been helpful for Minnesota's bid to win the title.

Given that they've made it to the conference finals in back-to-back years, there's a belief they're one player away.

Suns reportedly interested in 2 Heat players for Kevin Durant

Even though Kevin Durant has named his options in a trade situation, the Suns still have the final say. According to Michael Scotto, they are interested in acquiring Andrew Wiggins and Kel’el Ware from the Heat.

Phoenix has already done background work for Wiggins. The organization believes the 2022 champion will be part of a potential trade package for the Heat. Ware, on the other hand, has drawn a lot of interest with the Suns.

The Suns need a center, and Ware solves that need this summer. Additionally, having a versatile two-way forward in Wiggins could help Devin Booker once Phoenix decides to trade Kevin Durant.
