Jennifer Capriati delivers cautious verdict on Carlos Alcaraz & Jannik Sinner dominating men’s tennis in future after epic French Open final

Jennifer Capriati is open to the possibility of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner dominating men’s tennis for several more years to come. However, at the same time, the former WTA No. 1 thinks there’s a chance that other young players rising through the ranks can challenge the Spaniard and Italian’s potential dominance. Capriati’s admission came after the pair played out a thrilling final at the 2025 French Open.

On Sunday, June 8, Alcaraz pulled off an astonishing 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(2) comeback victory against Sinner in the men’s singles final at Roland Garros. The match, lasting five hours and 29 minutes, marked the second-longest Major final of all time and consisted of both the Spaniard and the Italian playing at an exceptionally high level throughout the entirety of the contest.

Three-time Grand Slam champion Jennifer Capriati watched the match and later took to X (formerly Twitter) to laud Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner for their exceptional displays in Paris.

"That turned out to be an amazing match. That did not feel like over 5 hours watching. Kudos to both," Capriati wrote.

A fan responded to Capriati's post, boldly predicting the Spaniard and the Italian's absolute dominance of men's tennis in the future. However, the 49-year-old wasn't convinced, citing the continuous rise of young talents in the sport.

"They might, but there are a lot of great current players and players coming up that are hungry. You can never get too comfortable that’s what makes it such a tough sport. Someone new is always coming," she added.

She went on to name Jack Draper as an example of someone who could be as dominant as Alcaraz and Sinner, if not more.

"Draper for sure is starting to check all the boxes," Capriati concluded.

Another former American great also recently predicted Draper to be a contender for the biggest titles alongside Alcaraz and Sinner.

Former ATP No. 1 and seven-time singles Major champion John McEnroe was a part of TNT Sports' French Open coverage team this year. According to McEnroe, Jack Draper has what it takes to square off against the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner and win multiple Grand Slam titles in the future.

"Jack's locked in beautifully. I mean, this is the best I've ever seen Jack play. It's incredible how much he has improved in my book than last year or so, even on clay. He looks great on clay. He's formidable, man. I think he will win majors, not major-majors. Wow, Wimbledon is going to go at worst as like fourth favorite. At worst," McEnroe told TNT Sports.

Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Jack Draper and other ATP stars will now gradually shift their focus to the 2025 grasscourt swing, with the Wimbledon Championships being their priority.
