“It’s very annoying” – Emma Raducanu makes concerning admission about her ‘vulnerability’ as Wimbledon looms

Emma Raducanu recently issued her honest take about her back injury, expressing concern over competing at Wimbledon. The event is scheduled to take place from June 20 to July 13, 2025.

Raducanu was recently seen competing at the HSBC Championships, where she couldn’t qualify further than the quarter-final round, where she played against Qinwen Zheng. The Chinese player dominated the round and earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory, advancing to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Shortly after this match, the Brit sat for a press conference, where she spoke about various aspects of her match, her physical health, and more. She opened up about how she has been struggling with recurring back pain since Strasbourg and made a concerning admission, stating that she has been suffering for the last few weeks and needs to take good care of it before competing at Wimbledon.

Talking about the back pain, she said:

"I have been struggling with my back since Strasbourg, and it's just been something that's been on and off. I have been managing it pretty well over the last few weeks, but I guess as the week goes on and I have played five matches now, like, even if two were doubles, I think, yeah, it just tests it out. And I just felt it, I think, as the load goes up," said Emma Raducanu.

With Wimbledon around the corner, she further opened up about her concerns with her back. Calling it 'annoying,' she added:

"Well, I don't know. Like it's been lingering for the last few weeks, and I have had, like, back issues before. I think it's just a vulnerability of mine. I know I need to take good care of it. I'm not overly concerned that it's something serious, but I know it's something that's very annoying and needs proper and careful management."

Emma Raducanu made her feelings known about her loss at the Queen's Club

In the press conference after the Queens Club, Emma Raducanu also weighed in on her clash with Qinwen Zheng in the quarterfinal round. Opening up about her thoughts on the match, she revealed that it was a tough match and praised her opponent's skills on the court. Stating that she played a high-level match, the 22-year-old said:

"Yeah, I think it was a tough match. I think Qinwen played really well and served well. You know, took one of my bigger strengths away, which is my return. That was difficult. She found some good spots when she needed to. Yeah, she played a high-level match, as well," said Emma Raducanu.

Raducanu also competed in the French Open; however, her campaign ended in the second round against Iga Swiatek. Following this tournament, the Brit shared a bunch of pictures on social media that caught Ons Jabeur's attention, who dropped a three-word reaction on the Brit's post.

Emma Raducanu recently weighed in on the struggles of switching from clay to grass.
