Is Carlos Alcaraz single? What the Spaniard has said about his “lonely” dating life

Carlos Alcaraz is one win away from defending his French Open crown on Sunday, June 8. The Spaniard will take on World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the finals.

Alcaraz has always been in the limelight when it comes to tennis on tour. However, he has never been rumoured to be in a relationship or spotted with a partner during his travels.

The youngster has been teased by journalists about his personal life a couple of times, but has maintained his stance on being single. On that note, let’s look at the instances in which he has spoken about having a girlfriend or mentioned his current relationship status on tour.

In a conversation with the Sunday Times earlier this year, Alcaraz addressed this topic and said:

"No, I am single. I am looking for someone. It can be difficult as a tennis player to meet the right person because you are travelling all the time."

He also spoke with Vogue magazine in 2023 and said something similar about his relationship status.

"It’s complicated, never staying in one place. It’s hard to find the person who can share things with you if you’re always in different parts of the world," Alcaraz said while being single for 18 months at the time," he explained.

The World No. 2 has been linked with British tennis sensation Emma Raducanu in the past. He was also rumoured to have a close connection with sports marketing and law graduate Maria Gonzalez Gimenez.

The 22-year-old had recently appeared in a lighthearted “What’s in my bag” parody video for El Pozo—Legado Ibérico. He jokingly showed off some of his travel essentials, including a sweatshirt, a pool float, and an electric razor.

When a fan cheekily asked if he also travels with his girlfriend, Alcaraz laughed it off and made it clear once again that he was lonely and single.

"And the girlfriend? Don’t you take her out?" the fan wondered in the comments

In response, Carlos Alcaraz hinted that he has yet to find his person but doesn't want to be reminded about it.

"Don’t remind me how lonely I am," he joked, adding a teary-eyed emoji.

Carlos Alcaraz spoke about getting engaged during the Australian Open this year. After congratulating his peers, Alex De Minaur and Katie Boulter, he hilariously mentioned that maybe it was his turn to change his relationship status.

When asked about getting engaged, the Spaniard replied:

"Who knows this year [Laughing]... No, no, no, engagement so far. Single, so far. I laughed with some close people that during the break, 3 or 4 players got engaged. I thought it was my turn, but not yet."

He went on to congratulate Alex De Minaur and Katie Boulter.

"I mean, I already told him congratulations. I don’t know if you’re sure about it! [Laughing]," Carlos Alcaraz joked.

The Melbourne crowd, including Alex De Minaur, enjoyed the reaction from Alcaraz. He wished the power couple on tour a healthy relationship in the future:

"But no, I’ve seen them in the tournaments. I mean, I don’t know Katie very much, but it seems that she’s a very nice person, so I think you’re going to enjoy this marriage, hopefully everything is going to be good. And yeah, congratulations! As you said, I’m too young to talk," Alcaraz concluded.

Carlos Alcaraz will chase his fifth Grand Slam title on Sunday against Jannik Sinner. He recently defeated Sinner in the 2025 Italian Open in Rome. The duo is expected to begin proceedings around early evening at Court Philippe-Chatrier in Paris.
