“He wants to get revenge on Dallas for fat-shaming him” – Anonymous NBA scout claims Luka Doncic cut weight to spite Mavericks while chasing MVP crown

The biggest surprise in the NBA offseason was Luka Doncic’s body transformation. The LA Lakers star took the time to care for his physical conditioning following the team’s early playoff exit. The Lakers were eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round, prompting Doncic to address his body issues.

One of the major issues for the Dallas Mavericks was Doncic’s lack of physical conditioning. Every offseason, there would be reports about the Slovenian sensation not being fit.

The 6-foot-6 star is changing that narrative with how he spent his summer. According to an anonymous NBA scout, the five-time All-Star is looking to have his revenge on the Dallas franchise.

“Man, he looks incredible,” the NBA scout said. “He’s quicker and more explosive. He’s getting by people more easily. I think he’s on a mission, man. I think he’s gonna win MVP and the scoring title next season. He wants to get revenge on Dallas for basically fat-shaming him.”

There's an expectation for Luka Doncic to be his best for the 2025-26 season. He's also one of the top candidates to win the regular season MVP for the campaign.

Although he's been considered an MVP candidate before, he would always come up short. Now that Doncic has a new body, many believe he could be a serious threat to win the prestigious award.

However, some still question how long he can keep up the healthy lifestyle. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith said the Laker star's ability to stay fit throughout the regular season.

“But there’s a difference between getting in shape in the offseason and staying in shape during the season, and that’s something we have to monitor moving forward,” Smith said.

Luka Doncic signed a new extension with the Lakers

The Lakers signed the five-time All-NBA to a new contract extension. Doncic signed a three-year, $165 million deal to stay long-term in LA.

With his new deal, Doncic is looking forward to being the new face of the organization. He's also excited for what's to come in the future.

"I’m going to keep working as hard as I can to bring another championship to Los Angeles and to make Laker Nation proud. This is just the beginning. I’m excited for what’s ahead and to keep building something special with this team," Doncic said in his presser.

The Lakers believe that Luka Doncic is their future leader. They've started to build a team around him to start the Doncic chapter in LA.
