With the US Open making the bold decision to reschedule the mixed doubles competition so it takes place before the singles competition, many high-profile players have jumped on the opportunity to play for the trophy. Alongside Alcaraz and Raducanu, the likes of Jannik Sinner and Emma Navarro, Novak Djokovic and Olga Danilovic, and Taylor Fritz and Elena Rybakina are also set to team up for the event.

Speaking to the press after his 6-4, 7-6(4) win over Adam Walton in the first round of the Queen’s Club Championships, Carlos Alcaraz humorously acknowledged that Emma Raducanu would be “the boss” in their partnership.

"She's gonna be the boss. Yeah, I mean, US Open came to us and give us opportunities to play mixed doubles. I'm super excited about it. I think it's going to be great. It was an amazing idea for the tournament," Alcaraz said.

Alcaraz also opened up about his positive relationship with the Brit and expressed his belief that they would have a lot of fun together at the US Open.

"Yeah, I know Emma since a really long time ago, so we know each other. I have really good relationship with her. So it's just gonna be interesting. You know, obviously both, you know, we are gonna enjoy, for sure. I will try, you know, to put my doubles skill on it. We will try to win. But obviously it's going to be really, really fun," he added.

In the same press conference, Carlos Alcaraz revealed that he had made the "special request" to Emma Raducanu to team up for the 2025 US Open mixed doubles event because he believed the Brit would be the perfect partner for him.

"Yeah. I mean, the tournament told us about the tournament, the mixed tournament. I was thinking that I couldn't play better if it wasn't with Emma. I just asked Emma if she wants to play doubles with me. Yeah, I made that special request," Carlos Alcaraz said.

The World No. 2 also humorously said that Raducanu took quite a bit of time to accept his request.

"She took a while (laughter). No, not that much, not that much. But obviously she had to ask, and she had to think a little bit. But it wasn't a minute, so...," he added.

Carlos Alcaraz is set to take on Jaume Munar in the second round of the Queen's Club Championships. On the other hand, Emma Raducanu pulled out of the Berlin Tennis Open because of her struggles with a back injury.
