“It’s impossible to reveal all the cards” – Luka Doncic’s father Sasa Doncic opens up on Lakers star’s viral offseason transformation

Luka Doncic’s father, Sasa Doncic, opened up about his son’s viral transformation this offseason. The Lakers superstar’s father expressed his thoughts on his son’s conditioning journey in an interview with S.Sportal on Monday.

One fan page on X (formerly Twitter) posted the translated quotations in a post on Monday.

“I saw how he works. Live. The reactions are expected. All I can say is that he looks good. Okay. For warming up,” Sasa said.

When asked about his son's final plans, he hinted at the fans to wait patiently. He said:

The 2024-25 season was likely Doncic's most dramatic season. He was dealt to the Lakers by the Dallas Mavericks in a surprise transaction for Anthony Davis that no one anticipated. Even the players were unaware of the situation.

Dallas' main reason for trading Doncic was his lack of defensive effort and his conditioning issues. So when the Timberwolves knocked out the LA Lakers in the first round, the Slovenian international started his mission to prove his doubters wrong.

On June 4, the Doncic fan page shared a picture on their account featuring the Lakers guard alongside a fan. In the picture, the Slovenian international is looking significantly sleeker than he did during the season.

Doncic played a significant role for the Lakers during their journey to the postseason. He instantly turned them into a championship contender as they finished the season as a top-three team in the Western Conference with a 50-32 record.

He averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists while shooting 45.0% from the field. He also played a significant role in the playoffs, scoring more than 30 points in three games, but the Timberwolves defeated them.

Luka Doncic roasts his father Sasa Doncic as he recalls the start of his love for basketball

Luka Doncic roasted his father, Sasa Doncic, while recalling the start of his love for basketball. Earlier this month, the Lakers star appeared on his teammate LeBron James' "Mind the Game" podcast, where he talked about his career, the trade and more.

During one segment, James' co-host on the podcast, Steve Nash, asked Doncic about the start of his love for basketball. The Slovenian international revealed that he excelled at only two sports: basketball and soccer. However, he tried everything and anything.

Nash asked Doncic about his father's influence on him, as the Lakers star's dad is a EuroLeague legend with two Slovenian League championships to his name.

"He was okay," Doncic replied.

The group broke out in laughter. However, Doncic said his father was a big influence on him. The Slovenian international used to attend his father's games and started as a ball boy. So, whenever he got an opportunity, he used to practice his shooting skills on professional courts.
