Madison Keys recently shared the experience she had while attending a Beyonce concert for the first time. The American spoke about the crazy experience of getting lost while trying to reach the venue.
Keys was last seen in action at the Queens Club Championships, where she couldn’t advance further than the semifinals. There, she squared off against Tatjana Maria, and the latter won 6-3, 7-6(3), clinching her spot in the final.
Amid her HSBC Championships campaign, Keys attended a Beyonce concert and spoke about her experience in a post-match interview. Ahead of the semifinals, Keys sat for a press conference, where she opened up about various aspects of her life, including her performance at the HSBC Championships and attending the Beyonce concert. Opening up about her experience of attending the American singer’s concert, she said:
"That was amazing. I have actually never seen Beyonce. So I was on the train from Paris to here, and I was texting Laura, and she was, like, Oh, you should come to Beyonce tonight. So I immediately, on the train, was buying tickets. It was absolutely amazing. It was so fun," said Madison Keys.
She added:
"I feel like concerts here are always so much more fun. Everyone puts so much more effort in, like the outfits were phenomenal. We got a little bit lost. I was laughing, because I was, like, Follow the cowboy boots and the hats. I've never seen them in London. We're all going to the same place."
Shortly after her loss in the Queen Club's semifinals, Keys also shared a bunch of pictures from the concert on her Instagram and wrote in the caption:
"Queen B and Queen's Club."
Madison Keys opened up about transitioning from clay to grass
During the aforementioned press conference, Madison Keys was asked about her thoughts on the transition from clay to grass. To this, she replied that the transition was very quick and she hadn't switched surfaces so quickly in a long time.
She further expressed her feelings about being in Queens and said that she really wanted to play this tournament. Calling the quick transition a bit of a challenge, she said:
"It was a very quick transition. Played on whatever day, Wednesday, traveled Thursday, was hitting on grass on Friday. It's probably the quickest that I have switched surfaces in a really long time, but really happy to be in Queen's."
She added:
"When it came on the schedule, it was a place that I always really wanted to play. So just kind of made sense. The fact that it's a pretty high-level 500 right away is definitely a bit of a challenge, but the grass season on the women's side is always so tough."
Madison Keys had a great start to the 2025 season as she won consecutive titles at the Adelaide International against Jessica Pegula and the Australian Open against Aryna Sabalenka. She will next be seen competing at the Grass Court Championships in Berlin against Marketa Vondrousova on June 17, 2025.
