Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian issues word of caution about AI leading to mass unemployment in coming years

Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, warned fellow techies of the future of AI that can lead to mass unemployment in the next few years. The Reddit co-founder cautioned others of the disruption that will be forged due to AI and how it has the potential to transform the tech market entirely.

The husband of the 23-time Grand Slam Champion has been a titanic force in the tech market with his capital investment firm, 776, making many investments for up-and-coming tech startups. In a clip posted by him on X (formerly Twitter), he shared how AI has the potential to shape organizations, putting CEOs of large corporations in trouble as it might replace workers in some fields, which in turn can work in favor of smaller corporations.

"I'm still underestimating the impact this is going to have. Looking at the way that's going to shape organizations. There's going to be an existential feeling in every CEO, because they're looking at their headcount, and then they know there's some upstart that has a much smaller team scaling at a much higher clip," he said.

Another entrepreneur replied to this clip and added that this mass unemployment will be facilitated by AI taking over the 'mediocre' roles in tech.

"it’s hard for me to imagine a role for the mediocre / subpar in tech in 18-24 months. We just won’t need the marketers, sales reps, product managers, etc that are sort of phoning it in anymore," he added.

To this, Ohanian spoke in affirmative, supporting the user's comment.

"Yes," he posted.

Being a staunch believer in AI, as a doting father, Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian, also raised his concerns about raising the daughters amid growing reliance on AI.

Serena Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian, spoke on raising daughters Olympia and Adira amid a surge in the use of AI. He added that he has been trying to teach his girls qualities that make them more human, a quality that cannot be replaced by AI.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he spoke on bestowing knowledge in his kids that is beyond the understanding of AI.

"That emotional intelligence, I think, exactly going to be a lot more valued. Taste is going to be even more valuable. There are still going to be realms where humans will need to be excellent," Ohanian said.

The parent duo are often seen adopting creative ways to teach life skills to their kids.
