Jimmy Connors predicts major change in Carlos Alcaraz’s body language at Wimbledon: Here’s why

Jimmy Connors recently predicted Carlos Alcaraz’s overall body language to change drastically at the upcoming Wimbledon Championships. Connors’ prediction stemmed from the Spaniard’s marathon five-hour-29-minute contest against Jannik Sinner in the men’s singles final of the 2025 French Open, where Alcaraz remarkably bounced back from the brink of defeat to clinch his fifth Major title.

Speaking on the Advantage Connors podcast, former No. 1 and eight-time singles Grand Slam champion Jimmy Connors claimed that the Spaniard’s remarkable win at Roland Garros is bound to boost his confidence heading into this year’s Wimbledon Championships, where he is the two-time reigning champion. Connors said:

“It’s going to be interesting to see what happens now with Alcaraz. His confidence now has to be off the charts too, coming back from that and being down, grinding that out, knowing he’s in the right kind of shape, knowing that he’s mentally strong enough to weather that storm against the best player in the world or one of the top two best players in the world now. And going into another Grand Slam, which is Wimbledon.”

The record 109-time career singles titlist proceeded to ask son and podcast co-host Brett to chime in with his thoughts on the potential impact of the result on World No. 1 and three-time Major winner Jannik Sinner. Brett suggested that it would take the Italian some time to process the defeat. Sinner had three championship points in the match, but failed to convert, allowing Alcaraz back into the contest.

"I feel like it's got to hurt. It's got to be one of those losses he's not going to get over in a day or two. But at the same time, he knows there's probably only one guy in the game who can beat him. Carlos has beaten him four times in the last year or so. Those are the majority of his losses," Brett Connors said.

Last year, Connors had spoken up about how Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have firmly established themselves as the dominant forces on the ATP Tour.

The last person not named Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner to win a men's singles Major title was Novak Djokovic at the 2023 US Open. Last year, Sinner reigned supreme at the Australian Open and the US Open, while Alcaraz claimed glory at the French Open and Wimbledon Championships.

These results prompted Jimmy Connors to deliver his verdict on the rapid rise of the Spaniard and the Italian to the uppermost echelons of men's tennis. The tennis legend said on an episode of the Advantage Connors podcast released in October last year:

"It's been good to see the last year or two, to see Alcaraz and Sinner kind of step up and start taking it. We've talked about that since the first podcast we ever did, 'who's going to jump up and take it away?' These two guys have really separated themselves, especially over the last year with Sinner and the kind of year he had, but Alcaraz with the last two years."

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will soon play their first matches on this year's grasscourt swing. The Spaniard is set to feature at the HSBC Championships at London's Queen's Club, while the Italian is slated to defend his title at the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle.
