Venus and Serena Williams excitedly announce major joint venture

Venus and Serena Williams are set to come together for a brand new joint venture. The legendary sisters recently announced a podcast of their own, which is slated for release this summer.

On Tuesday, June 10, it was confirmed that the combined 30-time singles Major champions will kickstart their new podcast in August this year on X Originals. The podcast will be co-produced by the Serena Williams-owned Nine Two Six Productions. Speaking to X Originals about their new venture, the sisters said:

“We’re so excited to be launching our new podcast, a place where we will share our personal stories, have authentic conversations, spotlight important topics, and laugh a lot. This platform gives us the chance to engage directly with our fans who have supported us throughout our careers, and we’re excited to connect with audiences, old and new, in a way we’ve never done before.”

Former No. 1 and 23-time singles Grand Slam winner Serena Williams shared an optimistic update on X after news about her and her elder sister's latest joint effort was made public. Williams' post featured a GIF of herself and Venus Williams holding hands while playing doubles at the Wimbledon Championships and was captioned:

"You ready @Venuseswilliams - let's go get 'em!"

Mitchell Smith, X's Head of Original Content, also weighed in on the development, saying:

"Venus and Serena are among the most recognizable and revered athletes in the world and their decision to team up with X places them at the center of our rapidly evolving original content strategy."

The sisters have always shared a loving bond, despite once having been fierce rivals on the tennis court. They remarkably also tasted a lot of success as doubles partners. In a 2024 interview, the younger sister spoke up about her relationship with Venus, especially during their playing days.

Speaking to Glamour last year, Serena Williams reflected on her relationship with elder sister Venus. The former No. 1 claimed the sisters' bond is one of 'codependence' and that she wouldn't have it any other way.

"I don’t even want to not be codependent with her. I love her. I don’t want our lives to ever be separate," Williams said.

She later cast her mind back to how the two sisters "leaned on each other" when they were both active on the WTA Tour.

"Tennis is so lonely. You’re on the road for 10 or 11 months out of the year. You really rely on having someone else out there. And Venus was there, and who else was going to relate to me? We were successful, and we were Black. We leaned on each other. We lived together," she added.

While Serena Williams bid an emotional farewell to tennis at the 2022 US Open, Venus Williams is yet to announce her retirement, even though she has played only a handful of tournaments in recent years.
