Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Rumors: Insider provides key update on 2x MVP’s future

The Milwaukee Bucks have built their recent success around Giannis Antetokounmpo. The superstar forward reaffirmed his commitment to the organization even after leading them to an NBA championship in 2021.

However, following yet another disappointing end to the season, rumors swirled about the two-time MVP’s time in Milwaukee coming to an end.

Then again, as much as every contending team has been tied to Antetokounmpo since his season ended, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said Tuesday that there have been no talks about that so far:

"Right now, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade market, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade discussions. He has not asked for it. The Bucks are not looking to trade him."

Giannis looked frustrated after his playoff exit, and Shams Charania reported that for the first time in his career, he was legitimately considering leaving the Bucks to pursue another championship somewhere else.

Nevertheless, it's been weeks since that happened, and the former Defensive Player of the Year winner reportedly hasn't talked to media or the organization about any potential trade requests. Instead, he's taken some quality time with his family and also traveled to Europe.

Spurs will consider trading No. 2 pick for Giannis Antetokounmpo

Even with the recent update by Brian Windhorst, it doesn't mean multiple teams won't be all over Giannis Antetokounmpo if he winds up requesting a trade.

According to a report by Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report, the San Antonio Spurs could even consider trading the No. 2 pick and reigning Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle to pair Giannis with Victor Wembanyama:

"Milwaukee would instantly go from totally stuck to on its way toward a meaningful rebuild. And with two top-flight prospects (Castle and potentially Dylan Harper) already in place.

"The Spurs, meanwhile, would suddenly have one of the biggest and most talented frontcourts in league history with Giannis and Victor Wembanyama. And their games would complement each other brilliantly."

The Bucks don't control their own destiny in the NBA draft, so they would most likely favor trade packages involving proven players who could help them stay competitive.

The prospect of having two potential superstars in the backcourt in Castle and Rutgers' Dylan Harper might be more than enough to convince Milwaukee.

The NBA draft is still weeks away, and we should know more about Giannis' future with the Bucks as we inch closer to the big event on June 25-26.
