NBA Trade Rumors: Kevin Durant quietly joins Victor Wembanyama on Spurs as San Antonio awaits formal reveal

Rumors are spreading that Kevin Durant has teamed up with Victor Wembanyama at the San Antonio Spurs. Sports analyst Bill Simmons predicted that the Spurs have already made a deal with the Phoenix Suns to trade Durant to their team.

While there aren’t any formal announcements regarding the trade yet, Simmons believes the Spurs are waiting for the 2025 NBA draft to conclude before officially making the trade public.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if (Kevin Durant) to the Spurs is done already and they just haven’t announced it,” Simmons said via the “Bill Simmons Podcast”. “Basically, they’ve agreed on specifics, just announce it on the week of the draft. This goes back to the Giannis thing.

"I think they trade for "KD" because it just costs less. They’ll be able to be real competitive and maybe go a couple of rounds in the playoffs, but they’re also going to keep the No. 2 pick and do it that way, which is my prediction," he added.

While there is a genuine possibility of this trade scenario happening, fans will have to wait for the Spurs organization to make it official.

Draymond Green reveals Kevin Durant nearly traded to Warriors

Kevin Durant has been on the trading block since before the 2025 trade deadline. While everyone is expecting to see Durant suit up for another team next season, it appears the Golden State Warriors was nearly his final destination.

Warriors veteran Draymond Green shared a story on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last Friday of how Durant was nearly sent back to the Bay Area. Green revealed that the trade was inches away from happening on the same night Luka Doncic got traded to the LA Lakers for Anthony Davis.

"I was with Joe (Lacob), and Joe gets excited, and that's my guy," Green said. "Joe goes, 'Draymond, I think we're gonna get Kevin Durant, like it's right there at the finish line. It's happening, we're getting Kevin Durant back.'

"I'm like, 'Oh man, here we go, let's go.' He comes running back to me two minutes later, 'Draymond, Draymond, I wasn't supposed to say anything, don't say nothing to nobody.'"

The last time Durant put on a Warriors uniform was back in 2019. He had a successful run with Golden State as he brought home two championships within three seasons.
