Smith then explained what it would be like having Mike on commentary in the 2025-26 season.

“Let me tell you something about Michael Jordan, he’s gonna be brutally honest,” Smith said. “He’s not going to be somebody that’s gonna be passive, not the Michael Jordan I know. The Jordan I know, he is as candid as it gets. He ain’t trying to hurt anybody’s feelings, he’s not trying to hurt you, but he’s going to tell you what’s going on.”

It seems that Stephen A. Smith is familiar with MJ's personality, given their close friendship and how they've been exchanging messages in the past. It is also no secret that Jordan is notorious for getting real with his opinions. As a player, Mike has always gotten in the faces of his adversaries to tell them what's going through his mind. His commentary style will likely be no different.

Fans react to Michael Jordan joining broadcast crew

Michael Jordan is making his NBA return, this time as part of NBC's broadcast crew. Jordan, who is expected to be a special contributor for NBC, will be part of the commentary from the 2025-26 season.

MJ will reportedly make $40 million a year. This makes him the highest-paid analyst in history, besting Tom Brady's $37.5 million deal with Fox Sports.

Fans on social media couldn't help but express their thought on Jordan's return to the league as an analyst. Here's what some said on X, formerly Twitter:

"MJ will not slander Jordan brand athletes. SAS get off your knees," one said.

"MJ gonna save the game, AGAIN," another said.

"Can’t wait to hear MJ commentating!! He’s gonna be BRUTAL. 😂😂," one wrote.

"The younger generation is going to hate MJ if he does that. These 2000’s babies don’t care that much," another said.

As of this writing, Jordan is only expected to do commentary for one season. There are no reports regarding his future with NBC in the seasons to come. For now, people can just enjoy his Airness' presence back in the NBA.
