ATP Rankings Update after French Open: Jannik Sinner holds on to No. 1 spot despite Carlos Alcaraz’s win, Lorenzo Musetti & Tommy Paul make big moves

The 2025 French Open had one of the best endings a Grand Slam could have, as Carlos Alcaraz won an epic five-set match against Top seed Jannik Sinner to defend his title successfully. In a game that went over five hours, the Spaniard won the match from a two-set deficit while saving three match points.

Alcaraz’s win helped the Spaniard defend all of his 2000 points from last year, and he retains his No. 2 spot with 8850 points. On the other hand, Sinner maintained his top spot on the ATP Rankings despite the final loss, as he remained No. 1 with 10880 points, more than 2000 points ahead of the Spaniard.

Lorenzo Musetti and Tommy Paul were among the other players who had a significant move in the rankings after their respective French Open runs. Musetti reached his second Major semifinal, losing against Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian earned 700 points and moved to a career-best ranking of No. 6 on the ATP Rankings.

On the other hand, Tommy Paul reached his first quarterfinal in Paris, where he lost against Alcaraz in straight sets. However, his run to the last-eight helped the American earn 300 points, helping him get back to the Top 10 in the ATP Rankings, with a career-best ranking of No. 8 with 3510 points.

Jack Draper and Casper Ruud were among the Top 10 players who moved up the ATP Rankings after the French Open

Jack Draper had a significant movement on the ATP Rankings after his French Open performance. Even though the British player was knocked out in the fourth round, he gained 190 points. moving him to a career-best ranking of No. 4 with 4800 points.

One of the significant players who dropped out of the Top 10 after Roland Garros was Casper Ruud, a former finalist in Paris. He lost in the second round against Nuno Borges, losing 750 points. He dropped down eight positions on the ATP Rankings, currently sitting on No. 16 with 2905 points. Another significant player who lost points was World No. 3 Alexander Zverev, last year's French Open finalist. He lost 900 points after his quarterfinal loss against Novak Djokovic but was able to hold on to his spot on the ATP Rankings.

Other gainers from Paris included Alexander Bublik, who reached his maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal. His run helped him gain 350 points on the ATP Rankings, moving him up by 19 positions to No. 43 with a current tally of 1265 points.
